Classification of circuit breaker trip curves

The circuit breaker is an important component of the circuit short circuit protection and overload protection. It is necessary to fully understand how the circuit breaker works and under what circumstances the circuit breaker will trip.Tripping characteristics of circuit breakers directly determine its performance, and different brands, different types of circuit breaker tripping curve is also different.Tripping curve is the action characteristic curve of the tripping device.

The circuit breaker manufacturer says the classification of tripping curve

Trip curves can be divided into A, B, C, D, K and so on, and their meanings are as follows:

(1) The trip current of curve A is (2~3)In, which is suitable for protecting semiconductor electronic circuits.

(2) The tripping current of curve B is (3~5)In, which is suitable for household power distribution systems such as home appliances and electricity.

(3) C curve: Tripping current is (5~10)In, suitable for protection of distribution lines and lighting lines with high on-on current.

(4) D curve: Tripping current is (10~20)In, suitable for protecting equipment with high impulse current, such as transformers, solenoid valves, motors, etc.

(5) K curve: with 1.2 times the thermal trip action current and 8 ~ 14 times the magnetic trip action range, suitable for protecting the motor line equipment, has a high impact current resistance capacity.
